The investiture of a New Provincial Grand Summus for West Yorkshire

Our Provincial Grand Summus, Allan Shields headed West on Saturday 17th September accompanied by Recorder Paul Joynson, Treasurer Nigel Dunlop as well as his predecessor Howard Nuttall. Well as far west as Batley in the Province of West Yorkshire to see Allan Webster invested as its new head.

It is the job of the Most Worthy Grand Summus to perform this duty, so naturally Ian Currans was the distinguished guest along with his Deputy Francis Spencer and Assistant Howard Markham. They in turn had a full deputation of Grand Officers present which includes as Grand Standard Bearer our very own East Lancashire Assistant Provincial Grand Summus , David Greenhalgh.

Lots of people and a bit of a squeeze into the lodge room but well worth it as a perfect and most sincere ceremony took place, as Alan Webster was invested and in turn invested his team for his first year in charge. Nice touch was the presence of both his son and son in law who acted as his escort during the ceremony.

Following the official business the brethren enjoyed a fine meal and a very entertaining Alan Webster who responded with good humour to his toast. However he was reminded by Ian Currans that it was his job to tell the jokes as he responded with an equally well humoured response.

We at East Lancashire wish Alan Webster all the best for his term in office!
He is also a member of our Province and we wish him well.
